There are many good characteristics of slurry pump ceramic impellers, such as abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance etc. Now the parts are continually provided for coal power generation, non-ferrous foundry, mining and others.
The corrosion and abrasion resistance of ceramic slurry pump parts are highly exceed ones made by high chrome alloy. The abrasion resistance of Si3N4-SiC material is 3.5 times as wearable as Cr15Mo3 (A07). However the weight of Si3N4-SiC material is only 1/3 of high chrome alloy slurry pump parts.

In regards of wear resistance, metals are only a compromise between conflicting requirements. Having only corrosion and no abrasion, it will be also possible to use Hastelloy. It’s the same with abrasion only. Abrasion in a neutral medium can be done by using Ni-hard or similar. Tobee‘s ceramic slurry pump impellers casting advanced ceramics covers both corrosion and abrasion perfectly. It could be a quite advantageous if there were solids in combination with non-neutral slurries, a leach or an acid (PH-value 0-12).
